Primary and Nursery School
Governors
Welcome to the section of the website where you can find out more about the school governors, and the work that we do. You can also read the minutes from our full governing body meetings.
Our main role is to support the headteacher and the staff - acting as a critical friend as well as celebrating the school's achievements. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence within each school year. The main documents used for this are the School Development Plan (SDP) and the Self Evaluation Form (SEF). The SDP sets out a strategic plan for the school, with targets that everyone works towards, whilst the SEF sets out how well the school is doing and where we aim to make the improvements.
Our legal duties include:
- setting strategic direction, policies and objectives
- approving the school budget
- reviewing progress against the school budget and objectives
- appointing, challenging and supporting the headteacher
The whole governing body meets at least once every term. Working commitees are set up to meet more regularly to look at particular issues. At present we have a Pupil and Personnel comittee (P&P) which is concerned with school admissions, and staff and pupil personnel. A Strategic Developement committee - concerned with the school curriculum, and a Finance and General Purpose committee that looks after the school budget. We also prepare a school prospectus for parents which can be found on the welcome page of this website.
There are several catogories of governor, appointed by different groups that have an interest in the school. These are Foundation governors appointed by the Bishop/Church. Parent governor and staff governor. All governors have equal status however they are appointed.
The Governors of Holy Trinity are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school.
