- Farewell Monsignor Dazeley -
From the Parish Pastoral Team

On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Team I am pleased to put together a few words to mark Monsignor’s move to his new parish. Our first thought is of his commitment to our community over the last ten years – not just our Catholic community but to the many within the Newark area who have been touched, supported and prayed for by this much admired and respected priest.

How often have people said “How does he remember everyone and everything?” How often has he popped in to visit a group, a meeting, a gathering, a home, the hospital or the hospice always leaving behind comfort, words of value or confirmation of good work being done. Sometimes a few minutes were all that was needed and he never missed any opportunity to be there for us all – from the oldest to the youngest.

His warm relationships, his passion and understanding for all groups and organisations within the parish, not to forget his kind consideration for the newcomers to Newark and the Polish community in particular, are matched by his dedication and care for his brother priests who have shared both parish and home with him.

To convey all the great things he has done for us, and inspired us to do, during his time with us is difficult as he means so many different things to each of us; each one of us will retain our own personal memories.

We know that you join with the Pastoral Team in thanking God for the extraordinary way in which Monsignor has been part of our lives, our parish and the Newark community.

We wish him well and assure him of our continued prayers as he moves in his typical modest way to his new parish at Southwell and Calverton.

He leaves us with a legacy of the wonderful opportunity that we are all blessed with, to continue celebrating life, our Faith and the community we are all part of, remembering the motto that means so much to him – ‘Live simply’.
